Use Shuffl with Microsoft 365

Connect Microsoft 365 to keep People current, and see what Shuffl does with it.

What Microsoft 365 does in Shuffl

Use Microsoft 365 as your directory? One administrator sign-in fills People with everyone, their hire dates, managers and groups.

You need to be a Shuffl workspace administrator, with an administrator in Microsoft 365 for the steps there.

Connect Microsoft 365 to People

  1. In Shuffl, open People, then the Sync tab. Under Add a source, choose Connect on Microsoft 365.
  2. Sign in with a Microsoft 365 Global Administrator or Privileged Role Administrator account.
  3. Accept the permissions on behalf of your organization: read users and group memberships. Groups become teams in People.
  4. To stop syncing later, disconnect in Shuffl or remove Shuffl under Enterprise applications in the Microsoft Entra admin center.
  5. Shuffl reads your people before it saves the connection, and the first sync runs straight away.
  6. Review the new people in People and enable access for those who should use Shuffl. A sync never turns access on.

What comes in

Shuffl reads Microsoft 365 once a day. Sync now on its card reads it at once. Shuffl only reads; it never changes anything in Microsoft 365.

Microsoft 365’s values replace People’s on every read, so fix a wrong title or manager in Microsoft 365. A blank keeps what People has.

What it does for HR

In Shuffl

  • Start dates start onboarding playbooks on their own, put new hires on Home and drive work anniversaries.
  • Managers fill the org chart, so playbook meet steps, manager to-dos and 30/60/90 plans reach the right person.
  • Departments become department groups, so Pulse, eNPS and Culture compare teams without exposing anyone.
  • Teams you bring in become synced groups for Pulse questions, automations, Connections and messages.
  • Suspended or removed accounts lose their Shuffl access.
  • Mello knows each person’s title, manager and department when it answers.

Good to know

Shuffl leaves out guests, shared mailboxes and room accounts.

If the card reads Needs attention, someone usually removed Shuffl under Enterprise applications in Entra. Sign in again as an administrator.

With your other systems

If you already push people from Microsoft Entra ID with SCIM, keep one of the two. Connect your HR system first if you want it to own start dates.

If it stops working

When a card reads Needs attention, Microsoft 365 refused Shuffl’s key or sign-in. Create a new one in Microsoft 365 and connect again; Shuffl replaces the stored one. A failed run changes nobody.

Disconnect stops syncing and deletes the stored key. Everyone stays in People to edit by hand.
